I think the
news in Chile, are in the most part, red press.
Unfortunately, just the bad things sell. I don’t know how it is in
others countries, but here is in that form. Probably, it´s for that reason that in the TV
news and newspapers, rarely appears cultural reports. These, cause that the Chilean
people, in general, don’t know about the culture in others countries.
But this
not happened just here. In fact, I think that in many countries, in all continents,
the people prefer to see bad things, instead of cultural information. A big example is what that Chimmanda Adichie
said in her speech. She told, that her roommate thought that all Africans are
wild. Her roommate doesn’t understand how she speaks the English so well.
The people
in general are so ignorant. I think that the journalism is the key for fix this
situation, but for this, the people need to change their mind, and the big
journalism companies need to take the risk, and start to contribute in that
cause.
